History of Land Settlement Housing   (28.1.15)
In the late mid- to late 1930s, the Land Settlement Association built two estates of smallholdings on land at Broadwath Farm and Dalston Hall. These were two of over 20 such estates around the country, established to provide employment opportunities for long-term unemployed men and their families from depressed industrial areas. The estates, at least in the early days, may have been managed by the county council.
